Full-Day Climbing
Spend a full day climbing on real rock, surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Patagonia in southern Chile.
Our Full-Day Rock Climbing excursion is designed for anyone who wants to experience the excitement of outdoor climbing while enjoying a full day in one of Patagonia’s beautiful natural settings. No previous rock climbing experience is required.
For first-time climbers, the day provides a safe and supportive introduction to outdoor rock climbing, with professional instruction in basic climbing techniques, equipment use, movement and safety. Climbers with indoor experience have the opportunity to take their skills outside and discover the challenges and rewards of climbing on natural rock. More experienced climbers can enjoy a full day of sport climbing on vertical and steep conglomerate rock, with routes selected according to their ability and objectives.
A Full Day on the Rock
We begin the day in Puerto Natales, where we meet before traveling together to the climbing area. Once at the crag, we introduce the equipment, discuss safety procedures and assess the experience and goals of each participant before beginning to climb.
Throughout the day, we choose routes according to the abilities and interests of the group. Beginners can concentrate on fundamental climbing skills such as footwork, balance, body positioning and efficient movement, while participants with previous experience can work on technique, route reading and progressively more challenging climbs.
Having a full day allows us to climb at a relaxed pace, try a greater variety of routes and spend more time developing individual skills than is possible during a shorter outing. There is also time to rest, enjoy lunch and simply appreciate being outside in an extraordinary Patagonian landscape.
The climbing area offers sport routes of varying levels of difficulty on distinctive conglomerate rock, surrounded by views of hills, fjords and lakes. And very likely, we may even have Andean condors soaring overhead while we climb.
More Than Just Climbing
Rock climbing combines focus, determination, balance, strength and problem-solving. But much of its appeal goes beyond physical ability.
Climbing encourages us to trust our equipment, our climbing partner and ourselves. It requires concentration and presence, and it provides the opportunity to gradually confront the natural apprehension associated with being above the ground.
For many participants, reaching the top of a route that initially seemed intimidating becomes one of the most memorable moments of their time in Patagonia.
Our groups are deliberately kept small, with 2 to 6 participants, allowing us to provide attentive instruction, appropriate supervision and a more personal experience throughout the day.
