Who and what is Mountaineering Aldrete?
We are a small company based out of Puerto Natales, Chile, dedicated to adventure travel, specialized in climbing and trekking. Our programs generate a sense of discovery, exploration and adventure that promote conservation of the natural environment in which we recreate and perform our services.
The mountains have given us so much while pursuing climbing and trekking objectives. Naturally, that became a lifestyle and eventually the best job. By applying leave no trace practices in our programs and personal excursions, we minimize our impact and become environmentally responsible, which is beneficial to the local community.
After a decade of guiding freelance in different areas around the world and developing experience in group management, client care and risk management, the time came to create this platform which allows us to design programs based on our experience with client satisfaction.
Our goal is to create seamless adventures in some of the world most beautiful places by innovating, finding new routes, applying best practices and leave no trace principles.
Diego Aldrete Isaac – Founder, program director, lead guide
I am passionate about nature and conservation. I started climbing at the age of 12 and over the years have furthered my knowledge and passion for the outdoors.
After years of climbing, instructing and developing new climbing areas, I became a climbing guide in 2006, which led to guiding trekking in Patagonia in 2015. My expertise on risk and group management, as well as client care have given me the opportunity to guide hundreds of people in beautiful and wild places.
I am certified as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Single Pitch Instructor with the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA SPI) and as a trekking guide with the National Corporation of Forestry (CONAF) for expeditions in Torres del Paine National Park, in Chilean Patagonia. I speak English and Spanish fluently, and German at a beginner level.
I love guiding because it keeps me in beautiful areas where I can share what I know and create awareness about conservation, while making sure people are having a good time. The bonds that develop with my clients after these experiences are most gratifying.
Lisa Raunig – Co-founder, marketing director, assistant guide
I grew up in the Austrian Alps surrounded by beautiful nature just one foot step away from my home. I’ve always loved to spend my time in nature dedicated to different kind of sports such as skiing, cross country skiing, climbing, mountain biking and hiking.
After studying Graphic Design and Business Pedagogy in Innsbruck and doing and internship teaching for half a year, I worked some years in the Chamber of Commerce of Austria in the field of graphic design and marketing campaigns. I decided to make a radical change in my lifestyle by going to Patagonia in 2017, where I fell in love and decided to never go back to my old routine. Instead, I committed to work on creating a company with unique, transformative and inspiring adventures in nature together with Diego.
I will soon get certified as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and a trekking guide with the National Corporation of Forestry (CONAF) in Chilean Patagonia. I speak German, Spanish and English fluently, and French at a beginner level.
