What our clients are saying …
Diego Aldrete was my first and best climbing instructor.
I started climbing late in life (at age 60) to help rehabilitate my upper body after a serious cycling accident that resulted in fractured neck vertebrae, a broken jaw, serious arm and shoulder damage and considerable loss of upper body and hand strength.
Diego was always very careful with me, as well as very supportive and encouraging. We climbed together weekly for several months as my strength and skill level increased. Diego carefully but resolutely pushed me to challenge myself, progressing from 5.5 climbs in the beginning to regularly succeeding with 5.9’s and even a few 5.10’s.
We continued to climb together regularly for several years until his move to Patagonia. I highly recommend Diego as a careful, considerate, and highly skilled climbing instructor and guide.
He is a compassionate and caring person. I consider myself lucky to call him my friend.
Diego made this trip an adventure of a lifetime.
Diego was our guide for the Full Paine Circuit, the “O” in December 2017. There were 4 of us, my husband, me, and 2 friends. He taught us about the flora and fauna, stopping when he found something interesting and specific to Patagonia. He kept entertained with rock climbing stories in the area. We learned about the history of the area, the current issues in conservation in Patagonia as well as the Chilean wilderness in general. He kept up a good pace, but allowed us time to rest as well. He prepared us for what we would encounter every day. His meals were yummy and satisfying. Everything went smoothly. We got wet a couple of times, but managed to dry off and in general, the weather was great! We felt safe, prepared and well taken care of. It was a privilege to be part of his group!
Thanks again for the fantastic rock climbing tour!
Beginning with a ride in the authentic little van, followed by a really nice walk close to laguna sofia and finally rock climbing with one of the best views of laguna sofia – it was a great day! Due to the really small group it was possible to meet all our needs and wishes through the day. We could decide between two different locations with either a shorter or longer walk to the climbing spot, decide which routes to climb and how often. We learned about different techniques of security checks, the history of the special type of rock and facts about flora and fauna we met during our trip. When we needed a little break from climbing there were empanadas and nice warm tea.
All in all it was a great experience – and so we booked another tour with Lisa and Diego to the Milodon when we were back in Puerto Natales only one week later, which was also really nice 🙂 They both know a lot about the history, flora and fauna and other things we were interested to hear about Chile. They have been really kind and helpful with all kind of tips, i.e. for our W-trekking to Torres del Paine.
Our trip was overall 10/10
I went on full Paine Massif circuit, a.k.a. “O” trek, which includes the famous W trek as well as the John Gardner Pass with my husband and 2 friends. We are all seasoned backpackers, but we learned that there are many particular considerations for trekking in Patagonia. The trip felt very adventurous, but at the same time safe. Diego is a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna of the area as well as the trails. He knows the off the beaten track gems to see something special or find that perfect lunch spot.
Diego and Lisa are gracious and personable. Just plain great people to spend your vacation with. I would recommend them to lead any adventure.
Diego is a superb mountaineering guide – the best I’ve ever had.
He guided me through the W Trek in Patagonia across 5 days and was exceptionally knowledgeable about the landscape, plants, animals and history of the region. Not only that, he was always positive and encouraging throughout the experience – especially when Patagonia’s notoriously variable weather was on full display. I had an incredible time trekking under Diego’s leadership and felt safe and confident because of his guidance. I enjoyed the trek so much that I also went on a climbing excursion with Diego and he was incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and supportive throughout the adventure, which culminated in my first-ever multi-pitch climb. I highly recommend Diego to anyone for trekking and climbing excursions, his combination of experience, passion, patience and positivity is truly amazing – you couldn’t ask for a better guide.
Wonderful climbing day with great guides in beautiful nature.
We booked a whole climbing day to start out in Patagonia. Lisa and Diego showed us really amazing climbing areas. The rock was excellent conglomerate and the routes well bolted. Highly recommendable!
The two of them managed to leave a lasting impression. Pleasant, humorous, supportive and very informative. They told us a lot about the traditions in the country and gave us good hints for our following travel plans.
